Thread: what is fault code P02040

So,

Audi dealer in France plugs in his VAGCOM into my A4 Avant and says gearbox knackered - 8,000 euros for a new one please.

He says the Fault Code is P02040 - can someone please tell me what this code translates as?

Google says P02040 = Catalytic inefficiency-bank 1

You could try this site Audi P0726 OBD/DLC Error Code - Engine Speed Input Circuit Range/Performance I used this when my ECU went on mine. Strange but it says (P02040) code doesn't exist.

Could be the code is incorrect, all the codes listed on the site you linked are 1 letter followed by 4 digits so would guess that it is wrong.....

Having a look at the fault code list I have found from this site http://www.vaglinks.com/Docs/VW/BentleyPublishers.com_VW_DTC_Table.pdf

If it was P0204 would relate to this;
P0204 Cyl.4, Injector Circuit Fault in electrical circuit

What do you mean "no use"??? They don't recognise the code or they won't tell you what it means??
