    Brake Pad warning light on

My Brake pad warning light has been flicking on and off now for a couple of weeks and now its more on than off, if you know what I mean. Had a good look round and all pads have plenty of meat on them. Had a go at shorting out but no joy. Any solutions to this? Is there a way of turning the light out on the dash?

    Thanks in Advance

    Check your brake fluid level

All cars i've owned before have a sensor in the brake fluid reservoir to tell you when you're low....

Did you check both innner and outer pads or just looked at the ones you could see through the wheel?
If the caliper is a bit sticky you may well find that the inner pad is worn down more than the outer one.

Removed both front wheels and checked the inner and outer pads, both sets are OK, will check the fluid level as this is one I didn't think of.

You are not alone ! i've got the same issue .. some days it comes on with ignition , other days it randomly comes on mid drive somewhere. all pads checked .. levels checked too.
Unfortunately it does not indicate on VCDS either so no chance of a quick locate.

I have a vague recollection of a similar issue common on the B7. Think it had something to do with current from the battery. Will see if I can dig anything out.

I had a problem with this on my B5, The battery was almost dead, would start the car but then I would get the brake warning light on for a couple of seconds. Get the battery checked, or leave it till the weather drops below zero and if its starting to go that will finish it off :-)

Yeah, I remember there was a guy a couple of years ago on here with it. A new battery fixed the issue.
Try trawling back through the old posts.
