Hey All,

I am looking at a 2007 A4 B7 2.0ltr DTM this afternoon, to be honest after spending so much time on 1.8T's i have little knowledge of these 2.0 TFSI engines or Audi's for that matter.

Is there anything i should look out for?

2.0T is good engine check SH as you would any car. Dv can fail on these engine especially if mapped so check it holds boost and pulls clean through the revs. Cam belt is important think its every 4 years or 60K s check thats been done. There was a recall on coil packs so make sure thats been done as its an expensive job and can cause issues.
 
as above but if the recall aint been done you can get it done yourself
check for juddering when pulling off could be DMFW cost ££££
check econ light goes out on aitcon unit
thats about it
dont worry if it sounds diesel ish they all make that sound

They didn't do the DTM that late. From what I recall the DTM was only a special run model from 1 Sep 2005 to 1 Oct 2005
 
Real good info here, cheers.I checked the reg plate online and it came back as a, "2.0 T FSI 220BHP QUATTRO 2.0TFSI 6SP", the car isn't for sale online, private sale through a friend of a friend if you know what i mean.Here are some pics of the car, it defo looks like a DTM, but i am not expert in Audi.

I bring my vagcom along to do a scan on it.

got the seats bumpers wheels etc even the red tow eye at the back
id call audi and ask them
they may have asked for that spec at new
i wouldnt pay DTM money for it tho as its am s-line
 
So the DTM only holds some exclusivity over the S-Line, minor changes here and there and a few grand for the DTM badge?

He's looking for about 13k EURO for it(11,300 GBP).70km on the clock.

a dtm here would be 11k ish with them miles
i dont know car prices over in ireland so cant say if thats good or bad for your area
i would say thats come from the factory like that i dont look like its all been fitted afterwards
 
Cars are notoriously more expensive in Ireland, if i wanted to imported this car into Ireland from the UK, i could add another 3k tax onto the price(EU my hole!)
 
It could very well be a DTM, special editions don't sell so well in Ireland, so they tend to hang around in the dealership unregistered for a while, hence the 2007 plate, if you were to get the full audi history on it you'd probably find out it is a genuine DTM, they'll be about the only ones who can tell you, not even sure the DVLA register them all properly.
 
Just try and get the chassis number. It should start WAU (or WUA). Whatever it is, its the opposite of what every other 2.0T is. (i.e. a DTM is WAU, and a normal 2.0t is WUA).
 
Dtm I reckon, the 2007 cars had clear indicators on the front lenses, not orange like this one. Too much expense to convert it. Special editions had same power, bigger brakes. The steering wheel also should not have any functions on it and believe it should have a ski load hatch in the rear seats.
 
Right lads, i just went and looked at the car, its all seems to check out, the VIN starts with WUA.The car overall was in decent condition, only minor bodywork damage from stone chips and the front splitter had a few marks also.The ECU only came back with one error and i also logged a few runs and was surprised it made 183g/s(183 x 1.20 = 219bhp) but it did fell underpowered, maybe i am just used to my car, 1st and 2nd were fun but the rest were just slow and steady, defo needs a remap.I was shocked there was no on-board trip computer for MPG, travel time etc.... is this normal?

Also the aircon, in my car (cupra R) its the snowflake button, i couldn't find anything on this.

Apart from the steering wheel the interior was perfect and very tasty i might add.

Robbie, did you check the reg on cartell using the irish reg or the original english reg. They may have registered it wrong as the dtm may not have been on the irish system. My mk2 16v is registered as a 1990 anni 1.8t.
 
the dis can be retrofitted with the cruise control as well as the armrest, my b6 quattro is the same. Also you are losing power through the drivetrain, probably about 50 hp.
 
So its doesn't have a trip computer as standard?When i was driving it there was no kick off the turbo when it was spooled just smooth power delivery, its been so long since i have driven a stock car i kind of expect to know when the turbo kicks in, LOL.

Nope, my car is an s-line quattro sport and it doesnt have a trip computer, didnt have an arm rest, (i fitted one, its very easy) but has full sports leather electric interior.

i think it was an option on the sport and came standard on the SE, George Dalton can retrofit the cruise and dis, not cheap though
 
Yeah, I used Geo before, even though its a cracking car, small stuff like this puts me off.How much did yours cost if you don't mind me asking?
 
Car or fitting the DIS? Mine is a v6 tdi quattro. Fitting the DIS and Cruise with Geo is just shy of 700 euro but that because i have the wrong steering wheel module, need a new one and there is 2 stalks involved.

The armrest i did myself, bought a second hand arm rest on ebay for about 80 euro. Bought the mount that goes from the arm rest to the chassis for 50 euro and finally bought a fresh leather lid for the arm rest matching my cars interior, that was expensive at just shy of 90 euro.

If you want a change from the Seat, go for it, I've had alot of cars and this is on par with my E39 M sport for driving experience. As the B7 is just a heavily facelifted b6 i would say it will have the same pit falls as the b6 with suspension arms but its nothing that should put you off.
 
I'm not bothered about the cruise control or arm rest, the trip computer does bother me though, no sure why, just does.
 
DIS is actually the expensive bit about 350 euro in parts alone of which the module is 250, so i would say 450 - 500 euro to get it done. Though you may be able to pick up the steering wheel module second hand. - edited that, sorry about the mistake

I still havent actually done it yet, had it on pretty much all my cars to this point so was really used to the info, the lack of DIS doesnt really bother me anymore, I just use fuelly but what does bother me is not having cruise control.

Not having an armrest was really ****** annoying, you may think it wont bother you, but i will bet you a Galaxy bar and a Bottle of coke (standard currency down these parts) that when your cruising along chilled out with the right tunes playing it will eventually annoy you.

dis is very easy to fit just get the arm and fit then code with vcds if your paying that much you was raped
stalk from the bay around 30 50 £ then fit and code job done
 
Thats pretty cheap, havent paid for it yet but it was definitely on the cards, my steering wheel module is the wrong module though. maybe its not an issue on the b7.
 
any module will work the dis
but for cruise you need a new module
 
Cheers Lads, i just spoke to my mate in TDR performance and he gave me the low done, new wiper stalk, VCDS programming and screen level sensor needs to be grounded if no sensor is in there iirc.

Interesting i just put the logs of the car in excel and it made closer to 230bhp, that going by g/s anyway, i am quite suprised about this considering its not mapped, could it be one of the lucky ones.

missing black mirror covers??? 2007 according to this AUDI A4 DTM T QUATTRO - How Many Left? they were all reg'd in 2006 so a 56 plate but Ireland may well be different??? didnt know they didnt come with dis showing mpg etc. Prob doesnt want to worry you when you only get 20mpg!!
 
If you only get 20 mpg something is very very wrong! average around 33-35, 40+ on a long run :)
 
do all the 2.0 tfsi's get 33- 35 mpg average reall figures (not book) im avg 38mpg in my tdi 170??? with the price on petrol to diesel it would probably even out!!
 
i can get 38 on the dis but thats never right anyway
id say 32 been good as low as 4/6 booting it
 
ive never had more than 32mpg avg and that's moterway cruising. Also robbirolex, dont be fooled into thinking the alacantara steering wheel, handbrake and gear knob has worn away (as i did) it just needs a good scrub to get all the grime off to bring it back to life
 
DTM should have black mirrors, and should have stalk controls for trip computer... plus the mising DTM badges and should say "DTM" on the kick panel visible when you open the door....

...and I see 31mpg in mine, up to 34 if I drive long flat motorways at 70mph! Which is rare.
 
all DTM dont have black caps and they all dont have the dis stalk
iv had 2 with neither
