    Retrofit Armrest HELP

hi guys, i know this has been mentioned b4 but cud sum1 pls advise me.
I bought a genuine armrest off ebay to fit my a4 b7, but it was missing the bracket and nut so ordered this frm cdf audi. Had all the parts ready and didnt want to attempt fitting it myself so had a local garage who specialise in audi/vw to do the job for me.
They told me to fit the armrest they would need the car for 1 hr but that time turned to 6hrs once they started???. Also the guy said in order to fit it they would need to remove the whole centre console & so the glovebox must be removed along with aircon controls & my headunit (navunit). Also mentioned abt removing front seats??? Surely cant be this hard just to fit the armrest as iv not seen any1 else mention this on here b4? Anyway got the car back (all put back tidy apart the mess of empty packaging) and guess wot? The hole that was cut to slot armrest in is too big. Iv got a nice big rectangular hole surrounding the armrest! Obviously theyve made a cock up rite? Whn questioned they claim thats the only way it would fit thats why the hole had to be cut so big. It looks as tho my 7 year old daughter has had a go at it. Looks a mess...................
    Any suggestions?
    thanks.

Theyve definately screwed that up! Does the cowling for the armrest bracket not cover the hole?

I fit my armrest on monday, took me about 1 hour to do it, didnt even need to remove the centre console. All i took out was the front and rear ashtray, the velvet mat thing, and the cover in the hand brake recess.

Got any pics of the damage?

No the cowling does not cover it. Theres a gap rite around it and its even bigger on the right hand side, worst thing the cut is all jaggered and looks nasty, wudnt be too bad if it were covered up. Well iv been screwed over then by da sounds of it? Aint paid them yet!

Might just be worth getting a console with an armrest hole cut in it. I got my armrest from a breakers yard in chorley, preston and the car it came out from still had the centre console in it. I'll try and dig out the the number for you if it's any good for you?

What's this about a gasket? Didn't fit one on mine :S

As you have satnav you will have a double din console, which can be difficult to get from eBay, you can cut a single din console to fit a double din head unit & climate control. On the arm rest side the garage made a complete mess of this one. You do no have to remove the centre console to fit the armrest, a simple dremel and a socket set with a 13mm socket are the only tools required.

    Hi
Does anyone know where I will be able to get a copy of the template for the hole possition ? as due to finacial constrants I will have to get an arm rest second hand from ebay rather than a new one from Audi
    cheers Ian
