I had the car remapped about a year ago and have just had a service done, and it feels less responsive, a bit like it was before the remap. Can a remap be 'lost' during this sort of work ?

If they have updated the ECU software this will put the settings back to standard and therefore you will lose your mp installed. Best checking your dealership service report/receipt and nipping to ask what work was done exactly. It will be stored on their system if not listed on the report.
Although if you have the settings for your map, the garage (I know Awesome keep mapping records on file) that did it should be able to easily reinstall this on your car. Well this is the case with the Revo map.
