Hi,

As of today, after 156,210 miles of driving me and the previous owner around, my turbo finally decided to have its last breath and die.

Now i need some help and advice as to what to do next.

I'm thinking of going hybrid, but need to find out roughly how much it costs. I understand to go hybrid i need a stronger clutch and FMIC etc. I already HAVE a full decat twin exit exhaust and my flywheel and clutch is already on its last legs and needs changing. Since i've had my car remapped, i've been looking at uprated clutches anyway so thats not much of a problem.

Can anyone reccommend a company to hybrid my turbo? I gather most companies use my existing turbo and just change the insides for better/stronger parts?

I'm sort of confused where to go next. My cars currently at a garage, having the turbo stripped off.

What next?!

Thanks for your replies.

AET are good
they do use your turbo for the hybrid depending on why its died

Thank you both for your replies,

@Bez, I'll google them up and put them down on my short list of companies to use.

@Drmole, that would be great thanks very much. I've already spoken to one company today, and they needed the part number on the turbo casing to give me more information on how much power output etc can be utelised from the turbo if i decided to go hybrid.

The problem i have now however is that i've been looking around for uprated clutch and flywheel kits, but NO ONE does them for the A4 2.0TDI lumps. Not Helix, not Sachs, not Luk nor any other reputable company. They do them for the transverse A3 engines and what not but not for the A4's.

So i was weighing up my options wether to go for an OEM flywheel, and get a clutch specialist to make me a clutch for the car but i need to phone around for estimate prices etc...

Also, according to AMD and scouring the internet, i can't find any aftermarket intercoolers that are front mounted either so i'd have to get a custom made intercooler as well for the A4.

...Should have bought a ****** VW. They have off the shelf parts for every VW in the world! :(

Thanks mate, i'll be waiting for your PM if anything :)

I think i might give up going hybrid and instead focus on making it a show car and not much of a GO car...

so just repair my existing turbo and then buy coilovers, spacers etc etc....:(

Well i only just turend 20 mate, so can't get insured on much else bigger, otherwise i would have a 2.0T,

so to answer your question, yes.

If people can spend £1,000's on a pug/corsa/golf...I'm sure a Avant 2.0TDI's worth it.

Also for something fast, i have a GSXR600 so the dervs good for me.

fair play, but I wouldn't spend £1000's on those either.

Wouldn't the insurance be much higher with all the mods anyway, and worth saving up for a year or two and getting a 2.0T. Understand as was in the same position and had a 306TDI many years ago, but saved the money instead of modding it, then used it to pay for a modified supra and insurance...worth the wait :)

Just a thought...

Bike sounds fun though :) something I wish I had done, but now with kids, not going to happen :(

That sounds like a great plan, if i could be so patient. But that isn't going to happen. Once i want something, i want it straight away. I don't know how you managed to save up and keep driving around in a standard car, though of course the wait was worth it if you had a supra! I adore those cars. Would love some jap scrap like a Supra or Skyline...

The bike is fun, although NOT so fun when you break your leg and your bed-ridden for 6 months of your life!

Compensation claim is fun though ;-) (hence the avant!)

Each to their own though. I'd rather spend money doing this car up, keep it for the rest of its life and give it on to my older brother or younger sister and then buy myself something newer with a better engine as and when im old enough to insure myself on a petrol turbo. Can't stand diesels even if i drive one myself.

It was worth the wait

Thats pure filthy porn!...

She looks beautiful, and the engine bay is something to die for!

Thanks for sharing the photos, you've got me thinking twice for sure.
