as above has any one had to change one if so at what cost i thing mine is slightly noisey

Oh yes, I done mine when I first bought it. I have no idea about labour costs as I done my own at the time of timing belts ect but I would expect to pay around the £200 range. The chain and tensioner from memory is around £100 - £150

2.0tfsi has a cam belt doesnt it not a chain? Some one more technical may correct me though but thats what I had changed by local indy!
Your looking at arround 300 but I dont think you should change it unless due no point bare in mind the tfsi engine is noisy at idle even when healthy I think its some thing to do with the fsi technology I seem to remeber reading!
If you do get cam belt changed make sure water pump is done at the same time!

marrow the tfsi has a belt and chain
parts around 150 and prety easy to change but tight
around £300 in labour to change

See I told you someone more technical would correct me ! lol
When should chain be changed then ?

Just when it starts rattling. If it does not rattle, you dont

are you sure its the chain thats makeing the noise ?
