    3.0tdi or 2.0tdi

    Im looking for either a 2.0tdi or 3.0tdi sline a4 are they worth going for or are they avoidable? anything i should look for, test, question the owners/dealers on

    I have up to 14k for a nice car, do you think it will get me one with bose etc? what other options did they come with? and if you know of any for sale march/april time when im back from afghan id really appreciate the heads up.

    Personally I'm in the 2.0 camp (but I would say that as I've got one lol). I'm not all that fussed about having a hugely powerful motor anymore, I'm after economy now. Check the sticky in the B7 section about the oil pump failure problem on 05-06 2.0 140's, thats the only common fault I know of but maybe the more experianced guys will know more.

    You should be able to find a well spec'd motor for 14k

    I've just paid 14k for a 57-plate 3.0TDi Quattro SE Automatic, with 57,000 miles. It has RNS-E (with Bluetooth), front and rear parking sensors, full leather, heated seats, and loads of other stuff that I can't think of right now. No Bose, though, but not sure it's all that important. The RNS-E sat-nav is the big one to look for.

    It's glorious. The performance is wonderful, the 4wd imparts incredible stability and security, and a long motorway cruise brings 45mpg.

    Get a manual if you can mate, much more fun and practical.

    Why spend up to 14,000 on a car and then worry about fuel costs?!.

    Go for the 3.0 TDI and remap it.

    You will NOT regret it.
    Things to do: Lower on coilovers, spacers, front end respray and a full correctional detail!

    If you are comparing the two; don't forget that the 3.0 weighs more, so the extra 63bhp doesn't necessarily mean that it is 63 bhp faster as it weighs 80 kg more.

    It's the extra torque that makes it faster. The 3.0 are hugely fast and fun.

    If fuel economy is an issue, I wouldn't go for an audi at all. None of the models seem that economical compared to other brands.
    I've not worked out what mpg it actually is but I put 75 of shell v-power in and its done 305 miles, however that was in the snow and a lot of idling while it defrosted etc.
    You can expect mid 30's mpg realistically.

    I have a 2007, 2.0 tdi 170 and love it.
    However its just cost 2100 for four(4) fuel injectors
    There is a thread on here regarding this issue.
    For 70 of diesel i get about 530 miles.
    My daily commute is a 30 mile round trip, made up of 25 miles of motorway at 80mph on the cruise control and a bit of town driving.
    70mph in 6th is about 2000rpm with the turbo not kicked in so i know im not driving it the most economical way!

    70 - 530 miles? :'(

    I constantly get 450 miles to 90 in a 140!

    I have the 2.0 TDI 140 and its great on fuel consumption but its lacking a bit power wise. Knowing what I do now I would be looking for the 2.0 TDI 170 for the best blend of economy V's power.

    Just for comparison to other peoples figures, my car normally sees 700 miles per tank, sometimes more but I'm maily motorways and have a 190 mile daily commute!
    2.0 TDI S line.

    Cruise, Leather, DIS, RNS-E, autodim, MFSW, ambient lights, Bi xenons.

    Fahim you need to slow down dude. mines not the best and ill get 550 - 650 from a full tank.
