Buying Advice: 2006 A4 1.8T Quattro

Hi,

I'm looking at a 2006 A4 1.8T 163BHP Quattro with 26K miles. It was first registered in September 2006. It has the following Audi service history

- 15th Oct 2008 @ 11,750 miles
- 06th Jan 2010 @ 20,500 miles

The dealer who is selling will service again before the sale. I've read much about the problems these engines have with sludge. Is this service history a cause for concern?

Hello mate,
I have exact the same engine/chassis (B7 1.8T sline).
Mine is 90k and had 3 more services than the model you're looking at (mine was on long life servicing). I'd say it wont be an issue, but the cautious side of me is thinking if you do buy the car get the sump dropped and oil pick up pick cleaned or replaced.

Is there any noise on start up (tapping)?
Ive owned 2 1.8T's one in S3 guise and the current B7 A4 both have been very quiet on start up even left for a couple of weeks.

Let us know how you get on.

BTW, dont expect lightning performance from this car!
