Hi guys been having problems with my 55 2.0tdi 140(blb)

Two main problems, firstly it has become very smokey leaving big clouds of black smoke between gear changes and secondly every now and again i get a judder when pulling away in first or second gear. I have had the car just over two years with no problems except a new turbo which got done under warranty not long after i bought it.

I found an audi specialist in liverpool who ran it through the computer and it came up with no faults. I left the car with him he checked it over an decided it was the egr valve and fitted a new one. Ive had the car back a week and for the first few days it seemed fine but then the smoke and juddering started happening again

I have just spoke with him and he now wants to check the injectors ive booked it back in next week. Im unsure whether to take it back to him or put it into audi as ive already spent near £400 for the egr and that obviously wasnt the problem!

Any ideas or help would be much appreciated?

Thanks Jay

If you read the thread at the top of the forum about the oil pump/balance shaft it could possibly symptons leading up to that on the BLB , I sincerely hope not but worth a browse through for any pointers

I have read through the thread and i saw nothing about juddering and smoke so hopefully its not the oil pump going!

not had much experiance with audi diesels but others friends have had with simular problem had an injector fault over fueling thus chucking out black smoke as burning alot of fuel sure this would have come up on the diagnostic tho but thas the only think i could think of. hope its of some help

Excessive black smoke is normally a sign of over fueling, All the engine live data needs to be checked for any abnormal readings. Do you know if all your turbo hoses have been checked carefully? ive come across this b4 with a leak causing lots of smoke, I wouldn't take it back to the garage who did the egr valve as he may want to drop a set of injectors in at your expense( worse case), take it to someone who knows what they are doing.
