Anyone got an A4 (B7) lowered on -35mm H&R springs

    Hi,

My Audi A4 (B7) is lowered -30mm on Eibach springs.
The ride and handling are great but the car still sits too
high for my liking at the rear (front is perfect!).

I spoke to the guys at Awesome GTI and they reckon that
the H&R springs would make the car sit more flat than the
    Eibach.

Does anyone have the H&R springs on their car and are
willing to post a few pics, so I can take a look?

You see, I don't want to go to the expense of changing the
springs if there is little or no improvement!

    Thanks everyone,
    Dave

coil overs mate are you using standard dampers as the dampers arnt really designed to run permanently lowered i got a set of kw put on yesterday at amd essex and having a decent knowledge of how dampers and springs work through mountain biking a decided against springs and went for coil-overs as these are manufactured specifically for that purpose

Hi mate, thanks for the reply. I went down the route of springs and uprated dampers, as coilovers are so expensive and I had read reports that they can be overhard, whereas progressive springs like Eibach and H&R give decent comfort.

I don't mind too much swapping springs but don't want to go to the additional expense of buying coilovers!

    Mine lowered on HR's.

Ignore the clown above saying the dampers aint up to it, the only issue is if they can bottom out, which they won't with a -35mm spring.

Handling on the Progressive HR's is absolytley spot on aswell, sits about 15-20mm lower than the S-line springs but rides so much better. As you can see the car sits nice and level aswell.

TuffGuy, any chance of some pics of your motor, So i can get any idea of what the A4 looks like on the Eibach's?

Although I am loving the look of MK2 Golf 24v's on the H&R's, Where did you get them from?

    Thanks

Yeah, -45mm,Those are the exact ones i bought. but the S-line is lower as standard, so you don't get a full 45m drop.

Yeh, mine is currently an S-line, just with different front spring seats to level it out abit.

Considering those are 45mm drop, they don't look like it, is your car a quattro then? mine is a std FWD.

They are fine with the standard dampers

Are the shocks the same on the on the SE and S-Line. Is it the springs are the only difference.

No the s-line springs are uprated over the SE, i beleive the s-line and s4 share the same dampers, but the S4 has slightly lower springs.

Although this just may apply to certain engines, e.g 3.0 3.2 and above.

Infact mine probably now sits like an S4, combined with the RS4 rear anti roll bar, its immense.

    Standard Dampers.

Car Just turned 3 years old and has only just covered 20k miles. The dampers are absolutely fine still. Have never had a need to change from the standard Dampers when using lowering springs. I had an A3 that was on Eibach's, Rocco GT on HR's and the Rocco R on HR's and they were all on the standard Dampers.

45mm drop will be approx 25 - 30mm drop for an sline i think?

Mk2 golf - Whats the ride quality like compared to std sline with those h&r's? Been thinking of these for mine but worried i will loose comfort but that is just the drop i want looking at your pics!

Comfort is miles better than standard. Gone is the harsh crashy ride of the S-line setup, super smooth now.

Absolutely do it, the look and ride are both miles better than standard. You will not regret it.

The drop was about 25-30mm over the S-line, just enough.

are you saying they are softer than sline? would they be alot more responsive and stiffer in the corners? sline on windy roads has quite a bit of roll! dont mind a harder setup..

This is on eibach springs mentioned at the top but with a bodykit so not much point in going lower for day to day use as i would lose the kit on most speed bumps.
