Turbo noise?

My car's turbo has always seemed a little noisy to me, I'd even say it makes an almost VW Beetle type noise sometimes but this morning its started making a lot of noise. The usual wistle is there but you can really hear the thing spooling up now and its definately not right.

Has anyone else experienced a noisy turbo and if so do you know if there are any possible fixes/cures or does it look like its on its way out and I'll be needing a new one soon?

My car is a 2.0 TDI 140
