A4 B7 with a rattle related to the air con

Tried a search on this issue but no joy.

Just got a 55 reg A4 B7 2.0 TDI S-line saloon and need a bit of info.

When the air con is switched OFF there is a random/irregular mechanical rattle from the engine bay. However, when the air con/climate control is ON there is no rattle.

Any suggestions as to the cause?

RANDOM MECHANICAL RATTLE,

I HAVE 54 REG A4 B7 2.0TDI S-LINE,65000ML

I HAVE THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS DEISCRIBED BY MING ABOVE,RATTLE GOES WHEN THE AIRCON/CLIMATE CONTROL IS SWITCHED ON, AIRCON WORK'S FINE, COULD IT BE THE MAGNETIC CLUTCH IN THE AIRCON OR A TENSIONER ON THE PULLY RIB BELT,

Got same problem, Is there a way to change drive belt to another so not using pump until I can get new one, as audi want £900 fitted OUCH!!!!!!!!
