Hi Matthew!

When you say "make it better" what do you mean?

Best wishes,

Mathew the following are instructions to alter tiptronic to work in sport mode this seems to work on a Passat 3bg with varying degrees of success

Sports mode on a B5.5 is engaged by setting a different bit in the same place (4th digit from the left). The bit to set is the '1' bit. eg oem code may look like this 00104 new code should read 00114. You can also try and the second digit from the left to 1 and see what happens.

Make sure you record the original code if you need to change it back. When you do the recoding make sure you switch electrics off befor starting the engine.

Failing that get a GIAC Tip Chip (http://www.amtuning.com.au/tiptronic.html)

I ended up sorting this out a while ago, I now have 00011 coding, which seems a lot better. There was a lot of discussion about it on audiworld and this seems to be the best coding for my type of A8. In auto mode if you let off the accelerator it will downshift ready to accelerate again.
