I have come across a problem;
I finally got my OBDII connector in the other day and was so excited to use it but during some safety tests initially I discovered that I might not be able to use it on my car....
I have a 98mdl A3 1.8T fitted with a Blaupunkt CD player...don't think its factory.... looks to modern for a 98mdl car.
Using the Ross tech website I found that there is a known problem with K-lines and after market stereos installed in Audi's. I was told to test pin 4 and 7 with a multimeter and if it was equal or under 9volts then I can use the OBDII connector with the ROss Tech Software (the older version as the car hasn't got dual k line) but if the reading was 12Volts I can't and may have to disconnect the stereo and re wire so that the k line is not in use.
My question is what hell do I REALLY do and why can my Audi dealer print out VAG diagnostics in the workshop and give it to me and not have this K line problem like i do.
I won't try this on my car unless I am sure I won't burn anything out by not asking the question and regretting it later...if you know what i mean.
Anyone got any ideas?
