I'm in the process of reverting my car back to stock, so I've got hold of a standard ECU to put back in leaving me free to sell the remapped one. I originally thought the immobiliser was in my instrument cluster, but it appears to be integrated with the ECU also.

The new ECU will run the car but it dies after 2 seconds with the immobiliser light flashing.

Is there a way around this with VAG-COM? I'm sure I've heard a few of you on here mention that you swapped your ECU's - how did you do it?

Any help will greatly recieved
Mark

I don't know if this helps but this is how I went from a standard ECU to a APR chipped ECU in my TT. It may work in the other direction ?

(at your own risk of course )
"Immobiliser Clone" (http://www.goapr.com/Audi/support/immobilizer.html)

Just found this : "(Note: This program will ONLY work with an APR EMCS-equipped ECU. "

Yeah it's the coding needs to be altered on the new ECU, will check and let you know what the proceedure is from my colleague who's done it a few times previously.

Have you checked here (http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/index.html) at the Rosstech site under the immobiliser sections...it may hold the key.

The link shows exactly what my colleague neeed to do when swapping ECU's on his TDi.

I thought that you had to get a code from Audi in order to swap the ECU via vag-com etc. confused!

Cheers guys that worked.

Code is only required for the instrument cluster
