Hi,

Keep seeing DTC 17545 and 17547 when I scan for DTCs on my Audi S4 1999.

They relate to actual errors of:

Long Term Fuel Trim Add.FuelBank1 System too Rich
Long Term Fuel Trim Add.FuelBank2 System too Rich

I've cleared them before and they come back within a week.

Any ideas anyone?

Sounds like a lack of air - for what it's worth, I know nothing!!
Should know a bit more soon though - have decided to get a manual and a vag-com.
I'll have to blow the dust off those spanners...

I was kind of thinking that about lack of air, perhaps a torn throttle body boot or similar?

It is a common problem on the S4 (torn throttle body)

Cheers

Dan,

The TBB cost around £8 from Martyn. It's very easy to perform an intial check without any tools. Simply locate the rubber Y pipe. (To locate and read all about the history of this problem follow the link below:

http://www.audiworld.com/tech/eng.html look up the model S4 and the excelent article titled "throtle body hose replacement" complete with detailed colour pictures.)

Once located run you hand around the hose looking for any oil that has made it's way up the intercooler pipes that may leak out of a torn thote body pipe. This is not a gauranteed check. But good enough to determine if you have a serious tear.
