Changing instrument light mode - help needed

Does anybody understand how to do this (2002 A4 B6)?

I have read the stuff on the Ross-Tech site and I still don't understand what changes to make to the adaptation value to change from mode 1 to mode 3.

Has anybody tried this and if so what value was needed? Also, was any change to the coding for the module needed?

Can this be done on an S3 ? The codes above don't work as you can't read Channel 19... its invalid for an S3.
