I have a 2004 A8 4.0 TDI. Yesterday all was working ok. Today the door locking and opening systems on the handles have stopeed working. I can still open and close the car with the key, no issues and the car still starts with the key in my pocket but when I grab a handle with the key in my pocket it wont open and the buttons on the door handles are all dead so they wont lock the car.
I replaced the battery in they key as I thought it might be getting low but no difference.
Only thing of note is that the other night I was driving along and the DIS all of a sudden said "Key not in the car" even though it was, and I put the key in the ignition when i was driving along and the message went, and when I took it out the message came back. After that once, no more messages but the locks worked after that, just not today.
If you replace the key battery do you have to do some sort of Sync to get the advanced key systems to work?
Any help would be appreciated, if not I guess its a trip to Audi..
