D2 S8 v D3 A8 4.2 FSI Quattro Sport

Hi Chaps.

I normally hangout in the S3 area (my S3 is my weekend drive), but I am hoping soon to replace my commute car (Volvo V70). My car of choice for a few years has been a final edition D2 S8, but I have also been looking at early D3 A8 4.2 FSI Quattro Sports, as they are in the same price range.

The S8 is a car I love, but the early D3 A8s are also a great looking car.

Anyone have a view on what I should go for?

Get the final edition, thats what I'm looking for.
I have a 2001 3.7 quatro sport, and have found a 2002 S8, but it's not quite the correct colour inside..
The new shape D3 looks more like an A6. There is some human design in the older D2.

Keep the S8, that's what I'd be doing. Whilst the D3 is the more modern car, the D2 stil maintains a degree of exclusivity that the D3 will never achieve. This is primarily because the diesel D3 exists, and has meant that more people have purchased them as company cars.
