I was kinda taking it they were all 4.2 V8s but then saw this ad onebay:
real or dubious info?

True Si.

Before the B6 chassis S4 4.2 V8, the B5 S4 was a 2.7 V6 bi-turbo pushing out around 260 bhp, the B5 RS4 was also the same engine but the output was 380 BHP from cosworth.
