Am i likely to have any issues with a DPF if i only use my car about half a dozen times a week? Or are issues more likely when using the car for short journeys?
Thanks.
Yeah, it's mostly the length and style of your journeys that matters... DPFs tend to like longer runs in preference to short/stop-start journeys, as they need to get the exhaust up to high temperatures for 15 minutes or so in order to perform a regeneration cycle (i.e. burn off the collected soot).
Basically, you need to give it an Italian tune-up along the motorway every week to keep the DPF gods happy. Really makes a lot of sense from an environmental perspective, having to use a bunch of extra fuel in order to help save the planet from all those nasty particulates...
