    Suspension common fault issue...is that sorted in the latest model!

    Hei,

    Can any of you confirm if the common fault issue with the Allroad suspension ie: 1500 quid a time to replace each side if they go. Has this been remedied in the latest 2010 onwards models and in the A4 version, or is it still the case?Can anyone post up a link to any threads that answer this or would be buyer hints threads that there may be.

    If by 2010 onwards you mean the current C7 shape Allroad which was actually introduced in 2012 then my perception from reading various forums is that the air suspension is not giving problems in the way that was the case with the C5 and to a much lesser extent the C6 version. However with only a little over 12 months of sales it is probably too early to assess the long term picture. On the C6 and the C7 Audi widened the use of air suspension to many other versions than just the Allroad, including the S6 and RS6, it is all fitted on the A8 and some A7s, so the potential for failures being reported is much higher than just those with Allroads If you are referring to the C6 chassis then (noting that this is the C7 forum!) the best advice is to go for as late a version as possible. 2010 onwards models are all post facelift and as such many of the engine and transmission issues present in the earlier cars were sorted by this time and likewise I would expect that if there were issues with the Allroad suspension then these too would have been resolved.

    All that being said, the air suspension is complex regardless of car and if something goes wrong it will be an expensive fix so some sort of warranty is probably a wise investment, surprisingly few people seem to recognise that a £50k car when new is still a £50k when it needs repairing and/or parts regardless of how old it is or how much the owner paid for it. The Allroad is a complex beast and will cost if something needs fixing although independent specialists can help to keep those costs down

    Thanks for the feedback on this. Just wasn't sure if the C7's were face lifted or revamped specially in the suspension department. Does the A4 allroad share the same suspension set up at the A6 allroad?

    The C7 is a completely new chassis compared to the C6 (I think the C6 was a derivative of the C5) so I am guessing that whilst some of the components on the C7 may be the same as the C6 the C7 would have involved complete redesign. As far as I am aware the A4 Allroad only has raised suspension (see page 28 in current brochure), it uses steel springs and does not have the option to adjust it like the A6, so there is no air suspension.

    Thanks elan2s.....very good info there. I am quite happy with the size of the A4 chassis and if your info is correct on the A4 allroad that might mean something less to get stressed about owning. The A4 allroad may be better suited for me.. All my driving is on road so perhaps better suited for me.
