Hi all. Thinking of buying a used A6 but i have heard some horror stories about the 2.0 tdi engine. Is it true that the oil pump is a week point on these engines and if so, what do i need to look for? It looks as if this car has been well looked after and serviced regularly but i'm still abit worried that i might end up buying a car that is going to go wrong on me. Any advice would be more than welcome.

The only way AFAIK to check wear on the oil pump hex drive is inspection, this is done by the sump being removed ... this issue affects the A4 as well and any other VAG vehicles with the same engine codes/design ...
