Hi,

I need to change the front shocks on my A6. The workshop manual indicates that you need to use two VAG specialist tools the 3287A ball joint seperator and the VAG 1752 and other add ons to allign the spring plates on the shock. Is it possible to do the swap without these tools?

Many thanks

The ball joint separator is not essential but helps and can be picked up for a fiver if u get the prong fork type.

and the other tool u will need is a spring compressor! or strip it out and ask a garage to re-compress the spring and fasten up the top nut, i'm sure they can help for a small price.

But it's not a quick job, looking at an hour or 2 each side.
