    Tiptronic gearbox specialist?

    Can anyone recommend a Tiptronic gearbox specialist, I think I might meed one?

    Gearbox going into limp mode when I go round bends at speed.

    A6 2.5TDI Quattro 2002 Tip.

    In the same boat :-)

    Same car, but although no functioning problems, Im getting errors regarding stuck torque converter.

    Looking on the net, try draining the fluids, ensuring the level is correct, clear the fault codes and try again.

    Fingers crossed.

    I got the same fault code today. Got it cleared now the limp mode problem seems to have gone. I still think that there is something wrong with the change from second to third. It's going in to a local specialist tomorrow.

    Will let you know how it goes.

    2003 S4 do me a favour, can you ask your gearbox guy what this error means :-

    17125 - Torque Converter Clutch: Stuck OFF / No Power being transferred
    P0741 - 35-00 - -

    See what they recommend. From what IVe read, it refers to a seal in the torque converter which isnt working, or going, which in turn will raise the pressure in the gearbox, eventually blowing the valve which operates reverse.

    Appriecate it if you could ask them. :-)

    That is exactly the same fault that mine is showing. The car is with them now. The guy drove it and said straight away the car is banding in 3rd (High revs before it engages). Apparently 3rd on these is where the torque converter comes in. I will let you know the outcome.

    Does yours have any symptoms?

    No :-) mind you, Ive only had the car for a week, so cant compare it.

    I was aware that it had a air spring issue, as I brought it from a mate who was trading it in for a new VW.

    The first I was aware of this problem was when I connected it too the VAG.com diag system. I dont see any warning lights o nthe dash, car pulls like a train. Be interested to see what your man does / thinks.

    Where you based ? Im near Worthing, Sussex.

    I'm Midlands. I'm beginning to wish I never bought it. Garage aint called yet so will post findings later.

    What did you pay for your car ? I paid 3800 for a 51 plate 105K miles, green, tiptronic allroad. Just had new tyres, new wishbones, taxed / mot.

    Im considering putting it on ebay if there could be big on the horizon.

    Seems this model / year of tiptronic has issues, been sniffing around the US site, and a few people haave had this issue.

    Some people replace a single valve in the gearbox
    Some people replace the torque converter
    Some people replace the whole gearbox
    Some just live with it.

    Any news ? I spoke to a gearbox specialist yesterday and he knew all about audi's tiptronic gearbox problems. He told me the best thing to do is for me to bring it up to them, and let them scan the box with thier diag machines. It could be anything from a iffy solenoid, torque converter, to a gearbox.

    What did your guys say ?

    Try http://www.drivertransmissions.co.uk/ - I have used them - top guys, know their stuff, nothing but BMW, Mercs, Audi's, Jags etc in the car park.

    Even the local Audi dealer uses them.

    Hi guys.

    Right then. My people cannot find a fault but can see whats happening by looking at the rev counter. They are sure its an electrical fault but they can't investigate it.

    I don't really know what else to do. I'm going to try singhl's suggestion.

    Sorry for the late reply, I'm totally pissed off.

    The Saga is finally over, Sold the thing! Awaiting delivery of a brand new VRS Limited Edition. Anyway, I also found out what the problem was if anyone finds themselves in my position, here it is:-

    I know the guy who bought the car, his mechanic checked the gearbox ECU (He has all the software) and found that it was setup wrong, but for a reason. The coupler was seized up. The coupler lets the wheels travel at individual speeds as its 4 wheel drive. Someone had changed the the gearbox ECU to compensate for the coupler being seized, when the mechanic reset the ecu back to what it should be there was an awful noise coming from the something or other because the coupler was seized. They replaced the coupler with a reconditioned one, a days work and 500 for the part. Would have cost me a fortune... If I could have found someone who could fix it!
