Im considering remapping my 2.5 tdi Allroad. It is currently 180bhp and remapping would bring it to 211bhp with all the benefits of extra torque etc. My question is would this be compatable with the tiptronic gearbox as on a manual box the extra torque would allow you to hold a higher gear for longer therefore also increasing MPG. It seems to me that the tiptronic box will still change downas it is programmed and therefore the remapping would not be effective as far as fuel economy goes. Any thoughts on this subject would be welcome. Thanks

I have chipped mine (Inmotion chip) it's smoother, faster and more economical, so I'm pleased.
You are quite correct regarding the slushbox, I sooo wish I had a stick-shift.
What I do is put it in 'manual mode' and, when going up a big hill for example, I shift down to 4th and keep the revs @ about 3000 on a lighter throttle setting and it cruises serenely past everyone!
4th and a light foot works way better than 5th and a lead foot.
Enjoy.
Next thing on my list is to learn how to re-map the transmission...????
