Hi All,

My S6 will be needing a cambelt change in the next 6-9 months, and i was just wondering what i should budget for the job.

Ideally i'd like to to stay out of the dealer network, so any recommendations of a specialist in the West Midlands would be greatly appreciated.

I'm also presuming that it's prudent to get any other ancillary belts changed at the same time. What about the water pump?

All advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Andy

I'm just looking into this myself and have just been quoted £700 for changing all belts , replacing anti freeze and replacing the water pump!

Is this about right?

£700 sounds a bit steep to me, but as the previous owner of my car was quoted £800 by the main stealer to do the belt, you're already saving money.

I supplied the necessary parts and a local garage that I have dealt with for years did my 2.8 for £250 for the labour, as it's a pretty big job with bumper and headlights etc needing to be removed.

It is best to change as much as possible, including water pump, so get them to fit a kit not just the belt.

Try Midland VW which is Cannock way A5, good guys and know these cars well ;)
