hi all,
I am having the Cambelt ,Tensioner ,Ribbed V belt & water pump changed in a couple of weeks.

I have been quoted £430.00 all in by my local Audi/VW specialist.(They said the job will take about 3.5 hours)
Is this price reasonable ?

*** BEFORE I DO THIS ****

IF you read the service manual it says the cambelt etc has to be changed every 80000 miles it says NOTHING about when the cambelt should be changed over a time period.

I phoned AUDI and they said it should be changed every 5 years or 80000 miles.
This contradicts what the manual says. Are they telling lies ???, we all know what main dealers are like!

(my cambelt etc was changed 50000 miles ago / 5 years 10 months)

PLEASE HELP BEFORE I PART WITH MY £430.00

KIND REGARDS QUATTRO 25 YEARS

i think mine was around the £400 mark, i had the thermostat done too, for the added cost it worth having done, as it is located behind the belt.

£430 sounds pretty good, our local dealer quoted us £805 :wtf:

The general rule is 80,000 miles or 5 years (rubber has a shelf life and starts to deteriorate) Ours has done 67k, so on the 80,000 principle should be fine, but is it worth taking the risk on something going and having to sort bent valves etc
