hi,

Following on from my previous thread...

I just rang Audi dealership for price of "CAM ADJUSTER" (this is what my local audi specialist advised needs changing) and i found that the part only costs £23.01, i told the person at the Audi dealership that i had been quoted £550 and he advised that i ring the specialist and ask him exactly what part is required as some ppl have different names for different parts.

Audi specialist clarified to me that the part that needs changing is at the back of the camshaft, it alters the timing and it is filled with oil - Audi dealership have said that this part is called a "TIMING CHAIN ADJUSTER" and it costs £266.69 plus a gasket (£4.99) and a cover gasket (£16.25) total £288.00, as the specialist has quoted me £550 i guess the remaining £260 must be labour.

Now that we have the correct part, could someone tell me is the price of £550 is reasonable or better still is there a cheaper way around this or is it just worth getting this done??!!

Much obliged.
