A6 PROBLEMS...A FEW...PLS HELP! Audi A6 1.8T

Hello everyone,

I am quite new to the forum, i bought my A6 last June and after 3 weeks the problems started. Firstly i had a problem with the oil pump (got that changed, problem solved) but ever since the ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT has been showing...had it checked by numerous audi specialists in the area and spent about £1500 already but no1 can seem to pin point the problem, one says its the tensioner another says its the throttle etc etc. This is really annoying me... i would firstly like to know if a specialist diagnoses a problem, and i pay him to do the job but the problem still persists is there any sort of warranty for the work or do i just lose the money i have spent?

Another problem i have noticed is that, when i apply acceleration i hear a wierd sort of grinding noise and the car takes ages to budge if u get what i mean...when i bought i would go upto about 40mph and then the turbo would kick and the you could really feel the car go..but now its not the same...could it be the turbo?

I probably can't help with the problems, but hopefully someone far more knowledgeable will be along soon...

In the meantime it'd help if you told us:

what year is the car?
what gearbox does it have?
how many miles has it done?
when was it last serviced?

etc.

Get someone in your area with vagcom diagnostics to access the engine controller and get the fault codes. If you can post these here then we'll be better able to help

well the car is Audi A6 1.8T, year 2001 has a manual gearbox and it was serviced just before i bought it so i'd say around May 2007.

and ill try and get some codes...
