My A6 2.5Tdi has developed a strange whistling noise as the engine is revved, we can not locate any holes in the induction/turbo/exhaust system and are stuck for idea's - can anybody suggest a fix???? (
from your description it sounds turbo related.try revving the engine so the noise appears and listen at the tailpipe (hold ya breath)if it can be heard close inspection of turbo blades is recommended.had similar noise on 1900 tdi where the cat had failed and somebody had knocked the oneycomb insides out this causes the now empty cat to act like an echo chamber enhancing normal turbo whistle.worth checking.
