A wheel dilemma
I recently bought an A6 2.7t Avant and purchased a set of replica s8 wheels to finish the look. Wheels were fitted by Surrey based tyre specialist, RSR tyres - the front supported by 4 mm spacers. Unfortunately found out today from my mechanic that the wheels had the wrong offset and should never have been fitted (bought separately on ebay - there is a lesson to learn!) there was less than three turns of the bolts holding the wheels on!!
Needless to say I still want to get a nice set of wheels for my car and would prefer to use OEM Audi wheels. Can someone advise me where the best place would be to find a decent set of wheels at a reasonable price or is there anyone offering a nice set of original Audi's for sale
If you are happy with your existing wheels, why dont you just fit longer bolts mate? Sounds to me like the bolts need to be around 4mm longer than standard to compensate for the spacers.
Longer bolts are probabily ur best option mate as above ses, but if you can get a good price for ur old ones and want decent set of wheels, check rochford tyres or ebay, but avoid replicas! they are made from a cheap composition of alloy and bend/buckle really easily!
I've got 20's on my A6 with little to no tyre and paid £250 per wheel and the difference is noticeable as i've had 18" and 17" replicas and paid £60 -£70 per wheel and even with more tyre after 6 months 2 of the wheels were buckled, yet with my 20's 2 years of the same driving and no buckles and i've hit a fair few bumps and potholes in the road!
Just goes to show you get what you pay for!
