AIRCON Working until pipes freeze

Hi, I have an A6 1998 2.5 tdi....

here is my problem. The Aircon works correctly until the pipes freeze and what happens is the air no longer blows out of vents although you can here the fan going full throttle behind the glove box. This only happens when Auto is selected.

If I select econ and the pipes defrost then the air blows correctly out of the vents.

I have had the system refilled several time but still the problem is there. My dealer ship is unsure what the problem is..

Any ideas would be appreciated

bad thermostat it doesnt switch of at specified degree of ice so it make your fregider freezer and blocks on all the ports on it.

Hi where and what thermostat? and can it be changed?

Belive it or not it could also be you need your gas refilled. These systems do freeze when low. And the reason you might be low.. A leak..
Which are very difficult to find.

the fault is fixed a new compressor, shame it took the audi garage 4 attempts and oper 1500 euro of my mone. im buying a mercedes buy guys
