Hi Guy's

I normally reside in the A3 section, but my wife has seen the light and wants a big powerfull estate. So I am looking at a '98 A6 Estate 2.8 Quattro tonight. Is there anything I need to know about these?

Any help would be much a preciated.

Cheers

Same really as any A6.

Track rod ends, cv joints and suspension parts are prone to failure at high mileage.

used to have an A6 2.8 q, cracking car, good motorway cruiser. Not blistering performance, but fast enough to keep away the novas, etc.

Not that good on fuel, mine only used to average about 23 around town.

Common fault also is the plastic oil pipe connecting both side of the V together. They are prone to going hard with age and get brittle, causing oil leaks. You cant miss it if you reove the plastic cover off the yop of the engine.

runs from the back, down both sides of the V and joins at the front. About £50 to replace if memory serves me well.

That was the first A6 I had and am now on the third. Love them to bits.

Hope it helps

Cheers
