What does the symbol MPH 2 mean on display

Brother-in-law bought an A6 over the weekend. on the way back the dash kept bleeping and showing the symbol MPH 2 whenever he tried going over 90. any ideas?

yeah its a warning to alert you that you are going over a set speed! You can turn it off if needed!

When I got my car I was playing about with it and set this to 30 ish. Totally did my head in trying to work out what was going on. But as Booth S3 says its easy enough to turn off and is covered in the manual.
