just been asked to lower a 2006 A6 2.0 TDI, any hints or tips?

if it's anything like the C5 not too hard.

You'll need a set of spring compressors for definate, and probably a balljoint splitter (don't get the chisel type).
Don't let the brake calipers swing by their pipes, tie them up with string.
When you refit everything make sure you pump the brake pedal before you drive the car.
