noise from brakes

every time i depress the brake pedal and also release the brake pedal i get a mechanical type noise which last only about 5 seconds. anyone any ideas ??

Can you narrow down where the noise is coming from? Is it from the wheel or the engine bay?

is this at high speed or any speed

sorry for not replying earlier - problem now fixed. it was the electric vaccum pump (brake booster) making the noise due to a split in the main air duct where it comes across the engine by the injectors
