    Clutch

i've noticed that my clutch biting point is quite high, i was just wondering if other A6 owners had the same or if i'll need to think about replacing it. Engine is a 1.8T.

    Cheers

yeah mine was high on my diesel at 145000 miles when i got it, now on 160000 and was still fine (tho wud slip if i dropped the clutch in 1st at high revs) It's now been changed cos the gearbox went b4 the clutch did lol,

Replace it when it starts slipping, u'll know when that is! what mileage you on?

60000!!! it shud be fine 4 another 60000 me thinks unless it's been badly driven, it may just need adjusting as most (well all) modern cars are automaticially adjusting clutches, but it may be stuck or something.

You can't adjust hydraulic clutches or feel if they are going through the peddle (Like you can with cables).

Set off slowly and go from 1st to 3rd and hammer it, if your revs shoot up but your speed doesn't it's knacked.

Correctly used a clutch is good for 200/300k, driven by a clutch slipping plonker it can be knacked at 70k!!

I have seen one with 1047 miles on it.
That is one thousand and fourty seven miles on it!!!!
The clutch can be knackered before 70k , depends on how it has been driven.
    Sorry

Think it is the norm for them to have high biting points...tell tell sign of clutch gone is on hill start when you struggle to take off or just put the handbrake on and see if the engine revs out or stalls
