    Cam Belt change ( Cost ? )

I am in the process of getting quotes for a Cam Belt change and an 80,000 mile service.

I have an Allroad 2.5 TDi 02 plate and i know that this work is going to cost me a few quid.

I have just recieved this e-mail quote from an Independant Specialist who is quite local to me ......

To replace just the cambelt, tensioner, rollers and auxiliary belts costs 580.00 plus vat. In combination with an 80k service costs 793.95 plus vat. This service including the cambelt takes 7 hours so we would need the car all day.

Hope to hear from you soon.

I bet they do " Hope to hear from me soon " ..... i don`t think so!

Could anyone advise me of a Guide price for this work ?

I have been quoted 400-450 + VAT by another Specialist ( a bit more like it ) Is this about right?

    Thanks for any advice/Info.

Did it on our V6 Tdi a couple of months ago!Monster job

Because of the labour involved to get at the belts (Front bumper off, and radiators etc to one side to get access) YOU MUST change all the belts for the alternator, air con, injection pump and pulleys and most importantly the water pump!

Cost me 400 just in bits and took 2 days as the main tensioner pulley for the cam belt was threaded and had to be re-tapped and pulley adjusted.

Still saved though as Audi wanted 1000
