A6 brake fluid top-up

I am trying to top-up my A6 avant's brake fluidbut I am having difficulty getting the stuff into the reservoir. Is there a special trick to it at all?
Any help would be much appreciated.

The fluid stays in the mesh reservoir of the filler 'tube' rather than just going into the main container. It is as though it is being prevented from going in by an air blockage or something. I assumed it would just pour in.

Should be filter before going into reservoir stop rubbish going in?

Have you got the right reservoir?...beside the battery
