Hi there, new to this site but would like some info. if at all possible.
I have a 1998 A6 Avant 2.5 Tdi and due to a recent addition to the family would like to be able to disable the front pass' side airbag.

There is no keyswitch in the glove box or anywhere else for that matter, Audi want £300 to undertake the work.

Audi said that they need to fit a keyswitch and loom as there isn't any on the car(fair enough) but what else is needed???

Is it just the case that it's a simple two wire input into the 'airbag ecu'(if there is such a thing) or not??

Would appreciate any comments/experience if possible please

Thanks for your time

OK. Though I'm still not sure what is involved/get for your £300? Is it just a loom and keyswitch or much more, guess I'll have to bite the bullet......

Well, I'd imagine you'd get the loom, key switch, new center light cover which would incorporate the warning light and the rest is made up of labour to fit.

Assuming Audi are right and it can be retrofitted, (as can be seen in the above thread, can be retrofitted to a B6 but not a B7), a cheaper option though may be deactivation with VAG.com?

Hopefully someone will know...

Kev.
