Sorry for being dull, what is the silver bit with the blue wires? What does it do? As there is not one on my replacement headlight, so slightly worried!!!! It's off a Audi A6 Jan 2001, Thankyou

Looking at the part number it is the range control adjustment motor, you will need to take this off your old headlight and fit to your new one.

Thankyou for the replies, I think I have a problem then, the replacement headlights who the supplier confirmed by phone were the correct replacements for my car/model have a different wire loom and I have no way of re attaching the angle control unit!!! Would it be worth getting an auto electrician around to have a look???
You should just be able to remove the motors off the old units and fit to the new units, I would say you have the wrong lights.
Excuse the poor image but should look like a bit this but mine are xenon.
