Headlight renewal

I recently added an allroad to the "fleet" for a good price.


The headlights were cloudy from the get go, so I decided to sort them out today.

I followed a similar process to removing the rear tint on the RS
400 grit W&D
800 grit W&D
1200 grit W&D
2000 grit W&D
followed by grade 5 and grade 3 wolfs chemicals polish on a Dual action

Much smarter I reckon, very pleased with the results.

Nice work there dane. may have to do this on the (maybe)temporary 2.7 bus... what lamps are those? look different to mine on the same age, are they a FL or just an allroad type?

could be standard allroad headlamps

I have washers but they dont appear to be xenons.

Yes, they are standard allroad lights...i have a6 lights on my a6, xenons !

Nice job. I did the same bought a lense cleaning kit of ebay. Was dubious but cleaned up the lense a treat.

Good job!, I'm halfway through doing mine, just finished n/s when my polishing pad exploded, awaiting replacements, few coats of vanilla wax then collinite after is good for some protection, will post up results when finished

Just used 1200 then 2000 wet n dry then megs ultimate compound and polish on a pad on an orbital sander,
then several coats of vanilla moose then collinite wax so they dont go yellow again immediately.

Was just using what I had kicking around in the garage and the drivers side has crud on the inside so not perfect but better anyhow

Best is to put a plastic film over the lenses after you polished the headlights... Good job, need to pull my finger and do mine !

I used some Megulars plastic RX (I think its called that)with a manual polishing pad, not amazing results but made it a little better
