I have attached a photo of my Cambelt.
Basically fitted it 300 miles ago. Checked it and it has a strange metallic glaze on it with the same corresponding glaze top idler.
it is a 1.9 tdi 110 afn. It's running perfect but wonder why it's wearing like this.

It ran fine after installation, but it would seem as if the idler has become sticky or seized

I wouldn't run it like that as it could go ping and cost you £££ is your coolant ok as wonder if the water pump is ok also did you use a full belt kit

Isn't the Cambelt auxiliary on this engine, it seemed it was when we checked, and yes full belt kit

Don't worry too much, the marks are from the oil pump drive pulley and if the tensioner notches are lining up and move anticlockwise when pushing down on the belt then all is ok ! I do hope you tensioned the pulley clockwise ?
