1998 a6 1.9 tdi vacuum pump replacement - how hard? where is it?

My vacuum pump has completly gone now as brakes are a little stiffer than b4 also dump valve not workin (but then again it only worked for 2 days)

Ne way i need to know how hard it is to change one and where the hell it is as i have no idea?

How old is your car as there is a recall on tandem pumps on some tdi models at the mo....
might be worth a cal to the stealers ???
