Hi is it worth blanking off the egr valve with just a plate or should I get a bypass kit or just not bother I've had it stage 1 remapped
Cheers
Ian

I blanked my eye of with q plate from eBay. I found the car more responsive and as yet no probs.

I plan to shut off my EGR too on my 2.5 tdi and for that, I have 2 types of questions:

1. What are the drawbacks? What about the advantages?

2. How should I remove it? Simply block the vacuum line, or buy blocking plates?

downside....NOx emissions go up, polar bears die. ecu Might get a bit confused and order up a derate, but probably not on a euro3 engine.
plus side... better fuel econ and performance

So, I don't care about the NOx emissions. The engine is euro2. So I should go ahead and do it?

How it's best to do it:
a) physical remove
b) remove via vag

Just blank it off at both ends, should need to map it out, being e2.
plates available on ebay, gaskets from TPS. shouldnt cost any more than £10. Dont forget to blank off vacuum hose which goes to EGR valve.
