Got in car today and abs light is on permanently. I switch ignition of and wait and light still on permanently. My car is an a6 2.5 tdi Quattro auto. Any suggestions?
The ABS sensors can be tested with a multimeter. Set the meter to millivolts ,connect both leads to the pins in the connector and turn the wheel. a good sensor should read a voltage as the wheel turns past it.

If the sensor turns out to be ok, might be an idea to get the car up on a hoist and check if any wheels have been buckled from a pothole/kerb impact... although you would probably feel nasty vibrations etc as you drove along if it was an obvious physical failure like that.
A buckled wheel would not cause the ABS light to come on as the ABS ring will be on the shaft and for that to move it would have to do the wheel bearing and you would hear that had gone if it was bad enough to trip the ABS
