2000, S6 - any common faults to look for?

Hi there,

I've been offered an 2000 S6 as part ex for my Audi A4.

I just want to work out running costs and find out if there are any common problems with these motors.

Its an auto box. Are these problematic or bulletproof?

I had one for 5 years and it was great. You will need big petrol wallet!!!!, they eat brake pads a bit. Make sure full service history, make sure cambelt done, it should have had 1st cam belt years ago so should be due 2nd cambelt. Mine needed lamda sensor which was big job as there is so much stuffed in engine bay. These cars can get expensive as they are older when they go wrong. The gearbox should last well but they don't go on for ever. I loved mine and now have 3.0 TDI in C6 which is great in a different way. Any questions let me know and I'll be happy to help. Cris
