Hi all. I have a 2008 A6 saloon WITHOUT roof rails. A friend has offered to lend me his large roof box for a holiday I am taking next year (long driving trip through France) but have a question. Without roof rails, how do I fix the roof box to my car? Do I need to find some second hand roof rails from Audi or a breakers etc. so hat I can fit roof bars then the box? Or are there roof bars to fit the box to that DONT require roof rails???

Many thanks,

You will only need roof bars (go across the car) as there are no roof rails (go down the length of the car) for the saloon. Halfords should be able to set you up with a set of Thule bars for the car and the appropriate fitting kit (Roof Bars & Fittings), though they may need to order them in for you.

Audi do roof bars, but they are expensive..... it may be worth asking on the forum if anyone would like to hire theirs out for 2 weeks? Would save you buying a set if you're only going to use them once.... Needs to be someone close to your location I guess?
